Why I Blog.

March 21, 2015

(photo from perhaps, 3 years ago)

I’m actually supposed to be doing work that is due in less than three days, but I get distracted – as I normally do, and perused through entries on my old blog. (Which I made private to clean up after spambots, but you can access now, HERE) Its helped me remember why I absolutely l o v e blogging.

Now, the mind is a wonderful, wonderful thing. But being human, we tend to forget more than we remember. Blogging, writing in a diary, or even writing little notes of what we do on a daily basis will help us remember so much of what we don’t. Sure, I remember the big events that has happened throughout my life, but it is looking back and rediscovering little details about my days in the past and how its shaped me into being the person I am today is what made me feel so so grateful that I blogged religiously back then.

I realised I stopped blogging when I came to Manchester, and I don’t know why that is. I’ve had some great experiences here and have had many a memorable days spent with friends that I remember from the top of my head, but it saddens me to know that I can never really know what I did and what I felt on certain days because I never bothered to write anything down anywhere.

I now wish I would have taken the time (that I had a lot of) to write, but whats done is done, and what wasn’t blogged; wasn’t. And I don’t want to be the sort of person who dwells about the past.

I’m only 24 years old this year, and I have my entire life ahead of me (if God permits, insyaAllah) so instead of feeling regretful over what I did or did not do, I would like to use this “consciousness“, if I may, as a stimuli to blog more frequently from here on out.

CHAPEAU.

March 10, 2015

I am certain there are a lot of those like me out there, those who – upon receiving a package – would tear the packaging into shreds, smell its contents and then proceed to trying everything on. Today was one of those days where I did all of the above, but the only difference being that this time my package didn’t arrive from the likes of ASOS, Monki, Weekday or COS, but instead it came from CHAPEAU, a brand that specializes in clothing made for road cyclists.

If you must know, my boyfriend is an avid road cyclist – he L O V E S it, and I am almost certain that he would choose bicycles over me without batting an eye… But thats not the point. The point is he plans on having me ride alongside himself in Malaysia once I’ve completed my studies and sadly – he is quite possibly a hundred times more determined than I am that I would be able to cycle up the likes of Janda Baik.

So he’s instructed that I start purchasing the items needed for when that time comes, and even though I fear for my very life at the thought of cycling up anything with a higher inclination than that one ‘hill’ along Oxford Road – I almost never say no to new clothes, regardless of it being something I will only ever wear on top a bicycle.

Thus, Chapeau.

This is not a brand I was familiar with, but who am I to give a rats a** about labels when its about 3x cheaper compared to the likes of Rapha, ASSOS, etc.

Next on the hit list are; a saddle, pedals, wheelsets, a pair of shoes, a helmet – good God, this is an expensive hobby. When there comes a day where I will want to give up on this (and there will be a day, or two, or a hundred) somebody please very kindly knock my head onto the nearest wall and remind me of how much money I’ve put into it.

Items I have on:

Madeleine Jersey V Stripe Blue / White / Red

Chapeau! Lightweight Cap , Black / White Stripe

A WEEKEND OFF.

March 9, 2015

Over the course of last week, I was up to my neck in work – I had just submitted work for studio the week before and unfortunately still had another assignment due for the 10th of March. That is until the whole year received a heavy sigh-inducing email pointing out an error in our upcoming submission date. The work that was supposedly due on the 10th is now due on the 23rd.

HOO – freakin’ – RAY

Equipped with this new found  freedom, I set out to accept any and all invitations to eat out, go out, whatever it is that takes place under the sun – that anyone had to offer me. I’ll have to admit that this scenario played out better in my head than it did in reality. Truth to the matter is; I have very little friends (and even fewer of them that don’t already have their own agendas planned for the weekend) and the weeks I spent confined in my own little bedroom, devoid of any human interaction have rendered me ‘invisible’ and ‘indefinitely unavailable’ to all those who know me.

Luckily enough; a flatmate notified me of a certain Burgers & Lobsters that was due to make an appearance at a food event here in Manchester on Friday night to sell their famous lobster rolls.
